Explosive Art 

Look at our fantastic Explosive Art. We all designed our own piece and made it explode. 

Rainforest 

We have has a lot of fun learning all about the rainforest and its inhabitants. We learned about the different layers of the rainforest and then created our own 3D model of each layer. We also drew some of our favourite animals from the rainforest, and designed hats for them. 

Young Writers 

2nd Class received certificates for the amazing books they created last year. Congratulations to our winners! 

STEAM Art Collaboration 

We were lucky enough to be invited to the STEAM Art Collaboration Exhibition. We were able to preview a wide range of amazing Art pieces and ask the artist questions. Over 500 schools from all over the world attended the event with us. 

Active Schools Week 

We had a fantastic week this active schools week. We had HIIT, GAA, Rugby, Yoga, Dance and many many more sessions. 

Static Electricity 

This week we had a lot of fun learning about electricity and how it has changed our lives. We also explored static electricity and how it is caused. 

Technology Week 

This week was technology week and we learned all about forces and electricity. We also got our software engineer hats on and used code to get Micro;bit to complete different challenges. 

Vincent Van Gogh

We learned all about Vincent Van Gogh this week and designed our own version of his famous painting 'Sunflowers'. 

PE - Stations

This week in PE we were using all of the skills we have learned over the past few months in stations. We had a lot of fun balancing tennis balls, throwing bean bags, building hula-hoop huts and kickouts. 

Happy Easter 

Happy Easter from all in 1st/2nd class.We worked together to make the different pieces of this poster before we stuck it altogether. 
We had a lot of fun this week getting ready for Easter. We had our very own Easter egg hunt where we had to follow clues to find our eggs. 
We also made beautiful drawings of bunnies and chicks to decorate our homes during Easter. 

Bird Watching 

We know how lucky we are to be surrounded by such beautiful wildlife in Edmondstown. We have started our own birdwatching club in 1st/2nd class. Here, we bring our binoculars outside and walk around quietly. We take note of any of the birds we find or can hear using our key.  

Happy St Patrick's Day

Happy St Patrick's day from all in 1st and 2nd class. We all dressed up in our Irish colours and had a lot of fun making our own Leprechaun hats. We read a story about leprechaun traps and decided to design our own. We also learned a few Irish dances and performed them out in the sunshine. 

Maths- Time 

We have been learning about time in maths. We have been timing each-other completing different tasks outside using stopwatches. 

Sunshine

We are loving every little bit of sunshine we get in 1st/2nd class. We love the outdoors and getting to have a picnic at lunch, when we can. 

Engineers Week

We have been very excited about STEAM over the last few months and especially interested in engineering. This week we delved deeper into the mine of an engineers as we examined the structure of famous bridges from around the world. We then used what we had learned to build our very own bridge. 
We then wanted to get into the mind of a computer engineer and decided to test our coding skills. We had a lot of fun coding our good friend Botly to find their way around the obstacle course we built. 

World Book Day

We all love reading in our class and jumped to the occasion to read some more outside and in our quiet space. We also watched some brilliant videos of authors discussing how they came up with ideas for their books and funny retellings. 

​'Pandas on a Zoom call'

We had a lot of fun learning how to draw Pandas. We even came up with a name for our new display- Pandas on a zoom call. 

Welcome Back! 

We had a fantastic first week back. We had such brilliant weather that we were able to complete our mindfulness activities outside in the sun! 

Christmas Play 

For our Christmas play we performed 'Twas the night before Christmas and sang some of our favourite Christmas songs. Everyone did a fantastic job singing, dancing, reading and creating props. 
As a very famous man once said, "Merry Christmas to all and to all a good.." Christmas break. 

Science Week
We had a lot of fun this week during Science week. We conducted a number of experiments on light, plants and changing materials. We also got into role as a scientist and learned a fun experiment song! 

The BIG dig! 
We were lucky enough to be transported back into the past and learn all about vikings and excavate exciting items from a viking household. 
We then decided to become vikings in Drama and learn about what it was like to be a child being given their first dagger. 

We used the leaves from our Nature walk to create some of the animals we see in our locality. 

In preparation for Science week next week, we conducted an experiment on plants. 

Happy Halloween! 
We had a fun and spooky Halloween party where we got to create Haunted Houses and dance like our characters. 

This week was Maths week and we loved completing our Maths Trails and spooky shape art 
We love our ​Ballyboden Wanderers GAA sessions. 
Introducing our 'Friendship Tree' which we planted on 9/10/20. We will be watering it and keeping it safe every week. 

Space Week:

We had an eventful week learning all about Space in Drama and Art. We blasted off into Space and explored an Alien planet. We then created our own galaxy using ink. 

We had great fun creating our Family Trees using Pointillism 

We have had some great Gaeilge conversations this week 

We have had a great time this week playing our maths games and practising our addition and subtraction.
