Due to the Corona Virus emergency, all schools have been instructed to close until 29th March. The children have brought home most of their books. This dedicated tab will be updated regularly by teachers with suggested work for children. There is no obligation on families to undertake this work and it is purely on a voluntary basis. However, it is important for children to have routine and an hour of school work in the morning and afternoon would be very beneficial for all children. We suggest that children use their books to revise work already completed. If there is a topic in SESE that interests them, they could research it and complete an individual project which they could share with fellow students on our return. Please log on to www.twinkl.ie/offer which teachers will also be referencing in their suggested work. If you enter the code IRLTWINKLHELPS this resource is free. We also suggest that children are brought out into the garden for planting and sowing and physical activities. Accessing www.duolingo.com would be a great resource to continue with Gaeilge and www.mathletics.com is useful for maths revision. We are looking forward to reading lots of book reports on our return!
We are in unprecedented times. Minister for Education, Joe Mc Hugh T.D. has said: “Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine – we all live in one another’s shadow. If there was ever a time for us to appreciate how closely we are connected, how much what we do matters to others, how much we rely on each other, this is it. This is a time where we all need to work together for the best possible outcome for our students. The support of everyone across the sector is vital, as we all strive to ensure that this threat is dealt with as effectively as possible.”
May God bless each and every one of us and our families and keep us safe.
