Technology Week: 19th - 23rd April 2021
We had lots of fun this week celebrating Technology week. 3rd and 4th heard about Aoife's great solar powered robot which she made from Lego. They also put together some electronic kits to make lamps. 1st and 2nd did more great Coding work and had great fun on their microbits which lots of them have been inspired to purchase. They also got to work with Botley the robot again and Harriet brought in her new Botley which she got recently - he's even more amazing that the school Botley! We have also teamed up with Amazon and they will be delivering some cool technology workshops next week via Zoom.
LEARNING TO CODE IN 1ST AND 2ND
The children have been having lots of fun learning to code.
Micro;bit
Micro;bit is a codable mini processor that uses a range of accessible coding languages. This mini processor has 25 LED lights that you can program to display a range of icons, text and information. Over lockdown, we used 'Micro;Bit Classroom'. This software allows the teacher to view everyone's work and send out blocks and tasks. We had a lot of fun using block coding to instruct microbit to say our names and measure the temperature in different places in Ireland.

SAFER INTERNET WEEK
The whole school celebrated "Safer Internet Day" on the 9th of February. During that week, all children received lessons from the "Webwise" resource. When Junior Infants to Second came back to school, they were given their "Internet Safety" wristbands.
