Message from the Principal
Dia daoibh,
Edmondstown National School is a Roman Catholic, Co-Educational Primary School operating in the Parish of Our Lady of Good Counsel, Ballyboden, Dublin 16. The school is under the patronage of the Catholic Archbishop of Dublin and operates under the guidelines of the Department of Education and Skills. We aspire to cater for the individual learning/educational needs of the child in a caring collaborative environment where the contributions of all the partners in our school community are valued. The School is situated in the foothills of the Dublin Mountains in a rural setting. The children come from a mixture of backgrounds, both rural and urban. It is a six-teacher school, comprising of four classroom teachers - Ms Caoilinn Tighe (who is also our Deputy Principal, currently on career break), Mrs Burke, Ms Browne, Mrs Fleming and Mr. Cooney and two Special Education Teachers - Myself and Ms Lally. We have two Special Needs Assistants - Pamela and Fran, and a secretary - Linda. We are blessed to have an amazing Parents' Association, a hardworking Board of Management and a wonderful community around us. Our vision for your children is that they will be “the best that they can be”, utilising to the full the gifts that God has bestowed on them. We aim to develop all aspects of the pupil and to promote a living relationship with God and with other people. We can only achieve this with the co-operation of parents, parish and community. Our motto sums up what Edmondstown is about “Creideamh, Cairdeas, Crógacht” – Faith, friendship, fearlessness. Our work is grounded in faith and a catholic ethos permeates the school day. The children in Edmondstown make friendships that last a lifetime and they learn to be a good friend to others and to themselves. We hope that our pupils will leave our care, secure in the knowledge of their inherent goodness and potential and that they will be fearless in going out into the world as agents of change. We want to mould young citizens who will not be afraid to stand up for justice and for what is right. We are privileged to share part of your child's journey through life and we treasure each new milestone reached and each smile shared. Le gach dea ghuí, Philomena Cleary Principal |
